Buying a Used Motorcycle

Several years ago, we published an article about the benefits of buying a used motorcycle versus a new one, and while some of the economic landscape has changed quite a bit since that article was written, some of the basic tenets still apply.
  • A used bike will be a lot cheaper than a new motorcycle.
  • Motorcycles are not ridden a lot (compared to cars, for example), so finding a bike with low miles is not hard to do.
  • You can even get a decent deal for a used bike from a dealership, and in some cases, those bikes are offered with a limited warranty.
Needless to say, do-it-yourselfers can bargain for an amazing deal if the motorcycle needs some repairs and TLC. And this time of the year can be an advantage for those who live in cooler climates since bikes are relegated to storage for the winter, which can motivate sellers when a cash offer materializes.

There are some important things to consider when buying anything second- (or third-) hand, so it may be a good idea to read the article for that purpose alone.
